The 12 Warning Signs of Diabetes You Should Know

For Annie, the 1st sign of diabetes was extreme thirst. She was baffled but did not pay attention to the signal. She was diagnosed with diabetes when she was 15.

"What are the signs of diabetes, Annie?" I asked.

She paused for a moment, and counted the symptoms of diabetes known to her.

"12," She responded shortly.

Over the subsequent 1 hour, she went through each sign of diabetes aware to her. She explained the causes too.

Annie suffered from diabetes from the time of her teens. She sat by the side of the window. Her eyes distanced for a moment before she carried on.

"There are about 12 known signs of diabetes. If you have one of these pre-diabetes symptoms, you had better go for health check advice. How I wish I recognised the symptoms of diabetes more than a decade ago."

The conversation with Annie provided me with better ideas on the sign of diabetes.

I think you will like to know know. Here they're:

1) Frequent urination. As the kidney is not able to filter out the glucose (sugar) in the blood, these excessive glucose is carried out of the body by the urine. The person's body answers to increasing sugar content by creating urine leading to frequent urination. For many, this is the first sign of diabetes.

They realize something is not right with their health when they're frequenting the toilet every 1 hour.

2) Utmost thirst. Even if diabetics engage in light activities, they need a lot of water to quench their thirst and it is not difficult to realise why.

Frequent urination result in dehydration as the person's body call for a great deal more urine to carry the glucose out of the body. This deprivation of fluid cause diabetics to get thirsty easily.

3) Dry mouth. Regardless how much water diabetics consume, this symptom does not disappear. Dry mouth happens when there is a lack of fluid to saliva  creation in order to moist the mouth. Dehydration is the cause of dry mouth.

4) Feeling sluggish. Getting fatigue quickly is another sign of diabetes. Loss of energy (glucose) in the urine resulted in the sluggish behavior of diabetics.

5) Sudden weight gain or weight loss. Diabetics usually experience weight gain because of resistance to insulin. As an alternative of converting the glucose into energy, they are stored as fats.

On the other hand, diabetics who go through sudden weight loss is not good news either. This can be a sign of dehydration or muscle loss because of the high glucose content.

6) Blur vision. This is one of the often missed sign of diabetes. Most pre-diabetics believed that they are just too tired. They seldom suspect this to be a symptom of diabetes. Be warned early as unclear vision because of diabetes can lead to permanent blindness.

7) Slow healing cuts and bruises. This is the result of nerve damage. This observation is more clear-cut for wounds on the feet because of rather poorer circulation.

8) Itches and sores particularly around the genital area. Too much sugar content in the urine lead to itchiness and soreness. However, this sign of diabetes is often misdiagnosed as Vaginal thrush, yeast infection or candidacies.

For those with vaginal thrush, yeast infection or candidacies, do get more medical opinion. It's better to be safe.

9) Gum (periodontal) disease. This is due to the high glucose content in the blood, which cause oral problem. Symptoms of gum diease include pain during food chewing and for considerable more serious circumstances - teeth loss.

Addressing gum disease is a true tough issue for diabetic since gum disease makes it hard to keep the blood sugar short of control.

10) Hair loss or hair thinning. This is normally due to the slow recuperation rate as a result of the medical condition. The lost hair isn't replaced in a timely manner.

11) Recurring infection plus scratch/dry skin. This sign of diabetes is the outcome of the poor blood circulation and high blood sugar level.

12) Feeling numbness in limbs. When nervous system has been damaged by the high sugar content, diabetics may experience this symptom. This mostly comes as the later indication of the diabetes.

At this point, it is important to be aware that the sign of diabetes listed above is not comprehensive. If you are not feeling well, the best and safest option is to seek qualified medical advice. Seek medical early. That may prevent unnecessary complication at the later stage.
